Welcome to the Department of Languages and Literatures! We offer education within language subjects at bachelor's level (first cycle), master's level (second cycle) and doctoral level (third cycle).
Our education program is perfect for those who are passionate about language, literature and culture! Whether you want to learn a new language from scratch or continue your studies from secondary school, we have courses that meet your needs.
At the bachelor's level, we offer courses in language proficiency, linguistics, comparative literature, culture, and area studies. As you progress to higher levels, the content becomes more in-depth and specialized.
As a language department, we have numerous contacts with universities in other countries and provide our students with various opportunities to study abroad.
We also have courses within teacher training programmes. Additionally, we offer competence development for those professionals who wish to further enhance their language skills.
At the Department of Languages and Literatures, you can learn languages through linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. We teach foreign languages, except Nordic languages, and offer many courses for exchange students at Bachelor’s and Master’s level, in for example English, French, German, and Spanish. Courses are taught in the target language. For students who know Swedish, there are even more courses available (Japanese, Chinese, Ukrainian, Russian, Latin, Greek etc.) with Swedish as the language of instruction. Language studies opens doors to other worlds and cultures and you will gain skills and intercultural competence that you can use in many different professions.
